Type: 11-Month Grant-Funded Part-time Position (02/01/2024 – 12/31/2024)

Hours: Part-time position. 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 4:30 pm (Four Days In Office/Field, One Day Remote). Work hours/days may be subject to change for special events.

Compensation: $25 per hour

About Us:

Project Hope CA is a re-entry organization providing support to individuals impacted by violence and incarceration through mentorship, re-entry services, and community engagement. The Work and Gain Education and Employment Skills (WAGEES) Program prepares system-impacted youth and young adults (18-24) for employment through mentorship, education, training, paid work experiences, supportive services, and leadership development. 

About the Role:

We’re looking for a dynamic and results-driven individual to join us as an Outreach Specialist for the Work And Gain Education & Employment Skills (WAGEES) Program. In this role, you will:

  • Recruit eligible participants for enrollment
  • Meet with community stakeholders (e.g. local nonprofits, government agencies, schools, community groups, etc.) to promote the WAGEES program and expand referral network
  • Establish employment and educational placement sites (to place participants)

Your ability to articulate ideas effectively (written and verbal) and build rapport with diverse stakeholders is invaluable for advancing participant enrollment and work and/or education placement outcomes.
  • You are motivated and proactive – As an outgoing team member, you exhibit a determined approach to outreach, demonstrating persistence and astuteness when facing challenges. You are confident and personable when approaching new and existing partners in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote the WAGEES Program using a variety of outreach strategies
  • Recruit eligible participants for enrollment in the WAGEES Program 
  • Establish employment and educational placement sites (to place participants)
  • Establish partnerships with community stakeholders, including but not limited to local organizations, schools, and government agencies
  • Maintain and submit required documentation related to outreach activities to the Program Director
  • Possess strong knowledge of the organization and WAGEES Program eligibility requirements, services, and outcomes
  • Communicate and work closely with Care Advocates to streamline new participant enrollment
  • Provide Care Advocates with information on additional external community resources that may support the participant’s needs
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external agencies to enhance the referral network
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college OR 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation (with automobile insurance) for commuting to various locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, business administration, or a similar field
  • Previous experience working with system-impacted individuals, formerly incarcerated, or communities of color
  • Experience in outreach and/or workforce development
  • Excellent communication skills (written, interpersonal, and public speaking)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation (with automobile insurance) for commuting to various locations.
